Assignment #26 - Daniel Kolpek

Overall, this year has taught me numerous writing skills that I will use for the rest of my life. The book we read at the beginning of the year, even though tough at times, was definitely helpful and effective in teaching ways to improve writing. It made me think about writing in new creative ways that I never could comprehend inside the five paragraph essay box I had been stuffed into all through middle school. Also, reading examples of the various essay types in class before actually writing one was great and made me feel much more comfortable about the AP test. The practice multiple choice tests were good preparation. I also felt that reading the essays out loud in class was helpful. It helped me make improvements and identify the issues I had for each specific essay type. The only thing I think would be a good improvement would to have at least one actual timed essay during the year where they have the time for writing they would on the AP test, without any revision. The time limit was a concern for me leading up to the AP exam, but it turned out okay.
