Jodi !

It's an understatement to call this huge, empty white box ominous. It makes me nervous. I feel like I won't have enough thoughts and words and ideas to fill it. But I'll try.

My name is Jodi Anne Kirkner. It always has been. I don't have any real nicknames, but some people try really hard to make things like "jod" and "jomoko" catch on. Jodi is the most reliable option. I'm supposed to be a Junior, but I still call the Freshmen "the 6th graders," so we can reasonably assume parts of my consciousness still haven't caught up. My only goal this year is to survive. Because I expect a lot from myself, I end up making a simple assignment (like a blog post) so scary that I can't complete it, I would rather leave it unfinished than face the horror of the empty white box for a few minutes. I know I can write something, I just don't know if I can write something good. Essentially, I procrastinate. So, if I can get everything done without imploding, and do well on my ACT math, I'll consider this year a success.

The amount of my time wasted on the internet is incredible. My favorite thing to do is talk to people; most of the time I just send messages to my friends, but occasionally I explore, and it's during these times that I have to stop and ponder exactly how I ended up where I am. For example, one day I innocently opened Instagram and a few minutes later, after clicking on a few too many related profiles, I was found by authorities, breathless on the floor, watching a video of a trashcan rolling down a hill, to Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You." The same video was recovered from three of my friends inboxes, about an hour later.

I really like Asia. I like Aisa so much. I went to China last summer, I listen to Korean music, I watch Japanese anime (occasioanlly), and I visit all kinds of Chinese, Korean, Indian festivals when they happen. I'm not sure where this all started, but now you really can't separate me from Asian culture. It would be like trying to take the cinnamon out of cinnamon swirl bread. Some have even described me as an egg (think about it).

I am now going to take this opportunity to advertise the Badminton Club to all of you fine individuals. I started this club with Mr. Wise a couple weeks ago and our first meeting is after school TOMORROW (9/8)! If you wanna whack things at a net, be there!

I now leave you with one final depiction of myself. Please watch until the end for maximum effect.
