Technology and the Future Daniel Kolpek
Ever since the beginning of mankind, new inventions have been created. From the wheel, to the printing press, to the first Mac computer, we have advanced our world and knowledge very far. Technology is a luxury and has had a positive impact for the most part. In today's world, technology is a huge part of everybody's life. Tons of people post on social media where they can connect with friends they haven't seen for decades, keep up with movie stars, and find humorous posts written by a comedian. Almost everybody has a smart phone where they can communicate with friends, check email, and surf the web at the touch of a button. Personally, I like the technology we have today. It has been nothing but entertaining and helpful to me. Technology is great and something that will continue to advance. However, sometimes I do fear that technology might not improve in a positive way. I dread thinking of a future where robots and drones do everything for us while we sit on our couches watching Netflix. I hate the idea of boards that carry us around so we never have to walk or move a bone in our body. Perhaps I am exaggerating a little, but there is always the possibility. The future will hopefully bring amazing things into our lives. Finding cures to diseases like cancer, creating ways to live on other planets, having cars that hover and don't need gas, all are awesome things that I hope will someday be a reality.
