Yoga, Food, Music REPEAT- Rachel Roberts
1. Yoga. I am incredibly uncoordinated and for lack of a better phrase, an awkward mover in general. So no, I am not even close to being good at yoga. But it makes me feel graceful and centered and at peace for the hour I do it. The stretching releases tension and stress, making me a happy person. (plus my yoga mat is really pretty and I like to use it whenever possible).
2. Food. I could eat all the time when I'm stressed. I am a major stress eater. But yoga kept me away from food for a good hour, so now I feel like I need to reward myself. So I treat myself to my favorite frozen meal, Amy's Gluten Free Vegan Mac and Cheese (which has a lot more flavor than it sounds).
now I am Zen and my tummy is happy.
3. Last but not least, music. Specifically The Beatles. During a much simpler but stressful time of my life, the transition from elementary to middle school, the only music I would listen to was The Beatles. I am dead serious. A solid two years of only Beatles. I don't know why, but any of their songs will automatically put me in a better and less stressed mood. They have never failed me.
junior year- Rachel Roberts
I didn't learn any Earth shattering lessons or take any big risks.
But I did manage to push myself out of my comfort zone (a little). I audition for "Its a Grand Night for Singing" at UK and I actually got in dispite looking utterly terrified. So I will spend the first part of my summer at rehersals and performances for Grand Night, which I am super exicted for. The rest of my summer will devoted too training for cross country, and hopefully improving my race time significantly.
I'm also really looking forward to our performances of Jungle Book, which I'm really happy I auditioned for.
I really hope senior year is better than this year, meaning it has contain another school musical to even be comparable (cough cough Into the Wood). I hope the nightly work load from school is less and my mentoring project goes smoothly. I also hope I can finally commit and follow through with the goal I set for myself every year. That means actual class participation without wanting to vomit.

Of Fuckups and Animal Crackers: Rachael Gilbert
I looked back at my goals for this year and...
All of them were boring af.
So instead of talking about grades and ACT scores, I want to talk to you about (to put it eloquently): what I fucked up in 2015/2016.
1.) MyFitnessPal
So, a couple of months ago my mom pointed out to me that my diet wasn't the...healthiest. For about a week I was supremely offended until the lunchlady that I buy food from every day kindly informed me that I had eaten one poptart and one fruit roll up every single day for the last six weeks.
Yeah.
So I decided to download an "fitness" app to make me more accountable for the whole eating thing. The first day I used it was a test run, I didn't alter anything about my diet (more poptarts and fruit roll ups).
1.) I consumed a grand total of 616 calories that day.
2.) MyFitnessPal kindly informed me that I was going to die.
So I decided to start eating better, which meant actually packing my lunch and all that jazz. Now I need you to understand something: I am crazily competitive. If you give me a something to do, goddamnit, I will get it done.
So when MyFitnessPal gave me a goal of calories to reach (and not go over) there was no way in hell I wasn't winning.
so when I decided to have a milkshake..or large French fries...or both and I knew I would go over my calorie limit...I just wouldn't enter them.
This is not helpful.
That's some firsthand advice right there.
So while MyFitnessPal was congratulating me and stroking my ego my health was still in a rapid decline.
Now I haven't actually "fixed" this problem. While I'm still using MyFitnessPal....I'm also still "stretching the truth" (for example as I type I am eating an insomnia cookies brownie and drinking a choclate milkshake. Healthy choices kids. Balance).
So yeah. Fuckup numero uno.
2.) I killed my dog.
Well. Not actually.
Almost.
I bought him these really cute treats that were basically the puppy equivalent of animal crackers (cue collective awwws) and since both the animal crackers and my dog are adorable, I kept giving them to him.
Turns out my dog is allergic to "wheatgrass".
The main ingredient in puppy animal crackers.
Sad.
So one trip to the puppy pediatrician and everything was fine. But it was super scary and I almost killed my number one favorite being in existence.
3.) I failed at basic human skills...i.e. walking and looking at the same time.
So, I was running (hahaha. Gasping and walking tbh) and...I got hit by a car.
A slow car, so no broken bones. Actually, technically, the car was not moving. I was.
It's a funny story and I do enjoy anedotes so:
When I run I vary between two emotions:
1.) YAAAAAAS BITCH
2.) OH HELLLLLLL NO
(number 2 usually lasts longer than number 1) but it's not a gradual shift between 1 and 2, like I will be jogging slower than I walk (it can be done) and then I'll just take off spirniting like some short, less graceful, chubby gazelle (it's a sight).
So I'm this situation I was transitioning between 2 and 1.
I was not looking where I was going.
So, at full Gilbert speed, I ran into a stationary truck.
the side of it.
With me face.
With someone inside aforemention car.
AHHHHHHHH.
I am an awkward person.
It happens.
But this was the worst thing that has ever occured to me in the awkwardness category (that's a lie actually...the infamous "Charlie Inccident" and "Awkward Encounters with Mr. Lentz" rank higher).
the man was very apologetic, mostly because my nose was bleeding profusley.
But.
It.
Wasn't.
His.
Fault.
I just screwed up reaaaaaaaaal bad.
So I excused myself and made sure there wasn't a "my nose shaped dent" in the side of this man's F-150 and ran off as quickly as possible.
I could go on, but I'm tired and I feel like I've already lost enough of my miniscule dignity for one go.
The pictures are of my dog...who is the best. His name is Remus W. Lupin but we just call him Lou and he is my favorite thing that has ever existed. It's his second birthday as of 50 minutes ago so yeah...he kicks ass.
My only "goals" are to maximize the amount of time spent hiking and snuggling with Lou.

Assignment 20 Rick Marino
So here we go....I've gathered my finest and freshest ingredients for that optimal savory flavor. If your following along, go ahead and round up two large pots, olive oil, basil, sage, wine, garlic, salt, pepper, sugar, tomato puree, and of course pasta. Pick out your favorite pasta. For this meal, I'll be using my go-to, Prime Selection Deluxe Linguini.
First, set your pot on the stove, and turn up the heat to a low setting. Then pour olive oil into the pot until it completely spans the area of the bottom of the pot. Add a dabble or so of wine and a couple of leaves of sage and basil as well as one or two cloves of garlic. Let this mix simmer for awhile until a light boiling occurs, at which point the stove is turned off. Next, empty two cans of tomato puree, or enough to fill the pot. Then your chef instincts come into play. After sampling your creation, augment it with appropriate amounts of salt, pepper, and sugar.
All you need to do now is boil a package of pasta in your other pot and BOOM BANG POWW, you've got yourself your very own delectable authentic Italian dinner.

1. Formation- Beyoncé
You probably already knew it was coming. This song is lit, for a lack of a less overused word. From it's beat to it's message, to it's overwhelmingly blackness, to it's woman empowerment, you can't listen to this song and be in a bad mood. Like that's scientifically proven.
2. It was a Good Day- Ice Cube
While writing about the musical genius of Formation, I remembered this song. It's another song you can't listen to and be in a bad mood. While you might not live in the hood, you can appreciate the relaxed day of a G who just had a good day.
3. Teresa and Thomas- Bright Eyes
A little bit of a switch up of genres, but still an A-1 song. Bright Eyes usually drags your heart through the mud and makes you relive the first heartbreak you never had, but they always end their albums on a positive note. So this song ends Letting off the Happiness, which is a great, great album. It has a very loving message and vibe to it and it makes you want to fall in love and just hold hands with someone for a solid hour and it's just a very nice to listen to.
4. No Name #1 (preferably live)- Elliott Smith
This is a great song for several reasons. This was like my all time favorite song in freshman year and I only listened to it when it came on shuffle, because I feel like that was indicative of a good day coming and should only be reserved for when the fates felt I should listen to it (sadly, I'm not joking). The live version is great because Elliott has such an incredible voice and brings so much emotion to the song you don't get listening to it on Roman Candle. Even when you're sad and you listen to this song, it cheers you up and I don't know the reason yet, but it just does.
5. Real- Kendrick Lamar
This isn't really a happy song, but still makes me incredibly happy. It's the second to last song on Good Kid Mad City (which is an incredible album) if you don't include the "Don't Kill my Vibe" remix. Falling the story he sets up in the album, he's reflecting (sorta) over the life he lives and the people he's around. That's a really bad summary, but you have to listen to the song and really the album for clarification. But it's such a hopeful and inspiring song, not in what he says, but in the reflection and clarity he has about his life and the circumstances he faced. The fact that a person can come from such bad circumstances and not let that stop them and understand how it affects the lives of others is just incredible. "Tell your story to these black and brown kids in Compton. Let 'em know you was just like them, but you still rose from that dark place of violence, becoming a positive person.." and I just love this man. You can't listen to him and be disappointed by a song.

Assignment 23 Rick Marino
1. "Triumph" by Wu-Tang Clan- This hyped track delivers one of the most fire rap verses in all of hip-hop history: " I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies
And hypotheses can't define how I be droppin' these
Mockeries, lyrically perform armed robbery
Flee with the lottery, possibly they spotted me
Battle-scarred shogun, explosion when my pen hits
Tremendous"
The epic posse that is Wu-tang brings the raw energy that gives the brain the stimulation needed to unleash the waters of creativity
2. "Express Yourself" by N.W.A.- This rap gang reminds the listener to refrain from "being a sequel." It encourages original thought and novel ideas. It urges the masses to stray from the beaten path. This concept is of utmost importance in the creative process
3. "I am the Walrus" by The Beatles
4. "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix
These two tracks provide the meat of the playlist. The psychedelic songs inspire to think outside the box. They promote an unorthodox method of contemplation, a major key to imagination
5. "Imagine" by John Lennon- This track brings the creative process to a soothing halt. Through this song, final thoughts are gathered into a singularity. The beautiful melody cools down the high power brain activity involved in creating.
Assignment 22 Rick Marino
( I am excluding Superman from my list. It was my initial response, but after mulling it over, I decided that Superman too overpowered and too easy of an answer).
Here are my moods and their corresponding characters:
Dark- Why the Dark Knight of course. Batman is the perfect character for embracing the morbid side of life and unleashing unto crime doers for the sake of justice.
Wise- Yoda. The little noble Jedi embodies all the sage aspects of great and knowing leader. When I feel wise, I would utilize Yoda's respect and honor to enlighten the Star Wars universe.
Powerful- Zeus- No character can appease the sensations of strength and might like the ruler of Olympus himself.
Happy- SpongeBob- The yellow dude is in a constant trance of joyous bliss. Sporting the biggest grin in Bikini Bottom, nobody can dampen this sponge.
Angry- The Incredible Hulk- The gamma rayed green beast is virtually unstoppable, great for quenching a thirst for mayhem and chaos when your blazing with a fiery temper.
Melancholy- Eeyore- As this glum Winnie the Pooh character, you can espouse the morose side of living and experiment with it's flavors
Assignment 21- Nose Colony Rick Marino
Originally a resident of mother earth, the elusive beasts have since migrated from our planet due to the vile malice and greed that began to fume odorously from the human civilizations. Man's disgusting scent sent those beautiful creatures fleeing from their favorite planet in the entire universe. Before humans, Earth's titillating and gracious smells charged their immense nasal cavities with pure and positive fragrances. The noses spread the earthly scents throughout all of existence. Alas.... now our planetary scents are confined to our atmosphere.
What most people don't know is that we owe our lives to these titan snouts. They have floated forever in time and space. Before the big bang, there were no smells. The noses appreciating their existence, but they yearned for stimulation. So, as leader of the tribe, the chief sniffer decided to create more. He hovered above a miniscule particle....... and blew. BIG BANG! And the rest is history. They resided on the most aromatic planet, Earth, until the rise of civilization.
Bring back the noses!!!!!! Be kind to the Earth and all those who call it home.

He also has a rad gang of his own. The trapster Freddy (yes he traps), the attractive Daphne, and the nerd Velma. I want to be in a gang, solving mysterious, and consuming the most delicious snack known to mankind( besides the Krabby Patty)......... Scooby Snacks! Oh and yes... the Mystery Machine. The only non creepy transportation van. That would be sweet.
This life would be the best. After it all you could say you captured the black knight, the ghost of captain cutler, the phantom, the miner-forty niner, the puppet master, charlie, and my favorite the creeper. And you influence viewers to be detectives themselves. So yes I would be Scooby Doo, the best non fiction character ( I believe he is real and so do other) Saturday morning cartoons has ever seen.
Noah Tapp- Assignment 21
The 6:00 am plane's engine broke as we were about to depart from the runaway. We sat on the plane for 90 minutes while the crew fixed the plane and said we were all set. My connecting flight was about to board at that time so they changed my flight to a stand by request at 12:30 from Atlanta to Lexington. No worries.... Yes I was delayed but there was plenty of flights for the rest of that day.
Well then at 12:30 I didn't get a seat because I was a standby request and they oversold. They put me on a 3:30 flight and again my stand by request was worthless. So I was going to have to be in Atlanta until the last flight to Lexington at 9. I was angry. By myself in the Atlanta airport was not how I wanted to spend my last day of Spring Break.
But there is more to come. At 7:00 Delta decided to cancel the flight to Lexington at 9. No idea why. So then I had to fly into Louisville at 10:30. Finally I got on the plane and we arrived however my "caring" mother accidentally went to the Cincinnati airport and not Louisville. My luggage of course was in Lexington so by the time I got home it was already Monday morning. And somewhere in the universe... probably in Atlanta... another person is telling a similar story.

Songs to Cry To - Jodi Kirkner
1. Diphylleia Grayi- Jonghyun Kim
From the first time I heard this song I knew it was special. I cant explain what it is, whether it's his haunting vocal or the layering of orchestra and backup vocals but if you listen to this song you'll understand why it's the perfect song to cry to. It's about the pain of a relationship and you can feel it.
2. Everything's Good- BTOB
This song captures feelings everyone has when growing up. Wanting to be young again, feeling that life is too hard or you're behind everyone else. He says "everything's good" no matter what, and there's always something else coming. I might only think its a good song to cry to because it was first recommended to me while I was crying, but hey, it fits.
3. Breathe- Lee Hi
This song, as the title suggests, tells us just to breathe when you need to, that it's okay to feel down and it's okay not to be okay (yes, that cheesy message again) but as someone for whom the music speaks more than the words, it's okay. I can feel what she wants to convey and that's all that matters to me. Her voice and the hopeful track makes it easy to cry to, her voice is like a pat on the back and someone saying "it's okay." That's cheesy too...
4. Eat- Zion.T
This is another song that got me, even the first time I heard it. It's written to a girl basically for when she's feeling down, to listen to this song and feel better. It's really sweet and Zion.T's voice is soft along with gentle piano, but to follow up the last song it's a little more upbeat. I'll admit I almost always listen to this song if I'm crying.
I'm way past my 150 words and I only want these 4 songs in my playlist. If you must have a 5th song to cry to,
5. Yanghwa Bridge- Zion.T
The chorus says "Lets, be happy, let's not be sad." Point made. You have to listen to understand.
Happy crying!

#21 you suck Lexi- Jessica Sunnenberg
someone is being blessed with the presence of a dog.
I am very bitter about this subject because it seems to me as if everyone has dogs. I am constantly reminded of it whether it be through social media, everyday conversation, or just walking in poublic somewhere. Everyone EXCEPT ME has a freaking dog.
Humans don't deserve dogs. They are the cutest things ever and I honestly don't understand what we did to deserve their presence in this world.
Now, onto why I can't have one. This is a very touchy subject (i almost screamed while writing this), but my sister is allergic to basically anything with fur, or without for that matter. I constantly remind her how she ruined my life because she and her allergies denied me the happiness a dog brings to human life. but in a somewhat nice way.
Dogs are just amazing. Most of my time on twitter is spent scrolling through the "We Rate Dogs" page and laughing at all of the posts, and then saving the pictures because every single one of those dogs are just so freaking cute. I will insert a picture of my favorite one. Please tell me why this dog is more photogenic than any model I have ever seen.
You're welcome.
Assignment 23 Brian Sato
1. Bliss by Flatbush Zombies- This song has a great beat, lyrics are great and the flow is amazing. This song is great for the car when on aux or chilling on the beach. Ignorance is a bliss.
2. Your Favorite Rap Song by Flatbush Zombies- This song also has a great flow and the lyrics keep on going. It's a rotation of great verses by the three members. This song is more chill so more on the beach instead of an aux song.
3. Facts by Kanye West- Old Kanye is good but so is new Kanye. This song goes in on Nike which is great verse and all around banger. It's a good hype song.
4. Alright by Kendrick Lamar- Kendrick's verses are insane and the message of his song is great. The flow and the beat is pretty hype so definitely and aux song.
5. Under Pressure by Logic- This song also has a really strong message and Logic goes in. His verses are insane and his rap game is unmatched. His lyrics are incredibly fast and its flows well. Young Sinatra.
#22 Joseph Bell- Jessica Sunnenberg
Assignment 23- Will Shapiro
Breezeblocks and Left Hand Free (both by ALT-J) these cool songs by this cool guy are really nice to just chill out to and not think too much. They have some meaningful lyrics if you decide to tune in and hear them.
Wake Up (by Arcade Fire) is a really cool song to listen to with a cool tempo and sound, I first heard it in the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and immediately liked it and added it to the playlist.
Opposite of adults &kids (by Chiddy Bang and MGMT) both songs are similar, but the Chiddy bang one raps to the beat of the Kids one. I enjoy both songs equally and they are both good to chill to.
Assignment 22 Brian Sato
1. He has a talking dog as a companion. Now that is awesome. Scooby is Shaggy's best companion and does everything together. And again he is a talking dog, who wouldn't want him as a friend.
2. He loves to eat and sleep. Those are two things I very much enjoy but I wouldn't be able to eat at the caliber as Shaggy and stay really skinny like him.
3. He has a squad that solves mysteries. Shaggy and his friends always finds and trouble and always solve them. Being able to be part of one of those mysteries seems to be an exciting adventure and would be something that I would enjoy very much.
#23 RIP SB- Jessica Sunnenberg
1. Work from home- fifth harmony
this is included due to the fact that it was played about 84 times during the week. We listened to it while getting ready, walking on the beach, basically anywhere. 84/10
2. Bonfire- childish gambino
turn the lights out
good song, much message 9/10
3. I Took a Pill in Ibiza Seeb remix- mike posner
keeping up with the upbeat theme
side note: I find it funny that in the song he alludes to his song "Cooler than Me" that was a major flop, and now the remix of this song is the popular version, not the original. yikes 7/10
4. Don't Stop Believin'- journey
inspirational af. great for dancing on the beach while people awkwardly watch you from their balconies. 12/10
5. Don't- bryson tiller
I had to include this solely due to the moment when I finally got the timing down at the end. LIT. 10/10
So here you have a great variety of songs. From ones that you would totally jam to w/ mom to ones where that wouldn't be advised. Although s/o to janet-chainz, madonna, & kricky for hanging in there on #2. They fit pretty nicely I would say. Who knows. Maybe it's just because I've heard them all so m uch this past week that they've grown on me. whatever.
Assignment 21 Brian Sato
At the same time, somewhere in the universe a life is taken. There is death where there is life. They could have died from a disease, an accident or just of natural causes. They become a memory or become forgotten. New life replaces the dead and the cycle continues on and on. But the universe continues as well as us. We live on. We are born, live and die. That is our life. With life comes death.

Assignment 22- Meriwether Carling
The "sorry I killed your guinea pig" Playlist (23) Hannah Freibert
Assignment 23 -- Andrew Thompson
1. Everything Everything - To the Blade: We want to start the list off hard, but not too hard, so while this song has some of the loudest and most impactful moments on the list, they are offset by the soft and vulnerable falsettos speaking of tragedy and confusion. Gets you appropriately hyped.
2. Everything Everything - Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread: I know, I know, another Everything Everything song, but the first half of their latest album is just absurdly good and the themes line up pretty well, with more of this tragic events stuff. We reign it in a bit with this song, but it is irresistibly groovy, and the lyrics contrast interestingly with the mood of the song. You can't help but get down to a story of a baby getting spattered by a man's freshly hammered head.
3. OK GO - Turn up the Radio: This song is maybe a little out of place with its really indie-tronica feel, but I think it fits in pretty nicely. We are sticking with this upbeat mood with a song about forgetting about the aforementioned tragedy and doom and gloom and just letting loose. This is also the only good song I could think of with this message, but it is a blast-able song.
4. PUP - DVP: But after a night of letting loose comes some regrets, which make up the content of this song. PUP is my latest obsession. They are the absolute best at putting together angsty screams, infectious hooks, and whole band choruses, keeping it lighthearted while tacking heavy subjects. This is undoubtedly the most hype-inducing song on the list and is a bit on the extreme punk-rocky side.
5. John Rosenstock - The Lows: And rounding it all out is a song that embodies all of the previous ones. With the lows in life come the highs. Happiness seems to slip through the cracks and keeps us confident that good times are ahead. This song has the pop rock-iness of Everything Everything, the pop-iness of OK GO, and the punk-iness of of PUP all in one. The final act is guaranteed to get you hyped for life.
Haterzz- Meriwether Carling
Here are a few songs that I threw together that will insure you to never have music playing privileges EVER again... sorry not sorry.
1. Jenny From the Block- Jennifer Lopez
An all time classic. Don't be fooled by the songs that I brought, I'm still I'm still Meriwether from the block (Hannah this one is for you).
2. Who Let The Dogs Out- Baha Men
The mixture of singing and animal noises combined into a wonderful harmony will have your aux privileges evokes in .2 seconds
3. Fancy- Iggy Azalea
I don't even have to explain this one....Igggyyyyy
4. Club Can't Handle Me- Flo Rida
upbeat tempo that has a lot of lyrics to sing and dance along with. 10/10 would recommend *one hunna emoji*
5. Watch Me (Whip/ Nae Nae)- Silento
The perfect dancing song. Not only can you "whip", but you can also "nae-nae". Killing two birds with one song. Love it.
Assignment 23 Viviana Ortiz
As a lover of music, this is just absolutely impossible to compile the perfect playlist. Not for the lack of good music, but because of the abundance of it. But I can always make the attempt, and so here it is. My playlist for the day when you can't figure out your mind, when you can't make a decision, when you can't figure out what's going on.
1. Sonata in G major by Bach
Not only is this an arrayment of sounds that mixes beautifully to make a gorgeous melody, the song allows for a breakdown in the body. It creates a meditation and peacefulness in my mind.
2. Lovely by Missy Higgins
To figure yourself out, you kind of have to be at peace with yourself. To be at peace with yourself you have to love yourself and this song makes you do just that.
3. Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky
Kind of threw this one in last minute but to me it seems slightly angsty or anxious with a slight feeling of peace.
4. The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars
If you are feeling lazy, this song will most definitely diagnose you quickly.
5. Drops of Jupiter by Train
If you are in love and you just don't know it, this is the song to listen to.
See the problem with this playlist is that I know myself and I understand that I will connect to each of these songs and convince myself that I have all of these emotions. SO in reality maybe it isn't the perfect playlist, but for all the wrong reasons.
playlist to play lists of playlists- Henry Walther
My current playlist:
Play that Funky Music- Wild Cherry
Hm. The song is instructing me to play MORE funky music than I currently am.
King Kunta- Kendrick Lamar
This song directly mentions funk so I'm feeling pretty funkylicious right now.
Bohemian Rhapsody- Queen
Well the last song was a rhap song titled "King" so I think this fits right in
I wanna be your lover- Prince
So far I've had a King and Queen. If I don't get an hier to the throne, I'm in deep trouble. I hope he's not an hierhead.
Whip my hair- Willow Smith
My hier might not be the best but my hair will be if I learn how to whip correctly. Willow Smith is the best tree named rapper alive. Prove me wrong.
My playlist is the best because it is so cohesive. I'm going to name this playlist "glue" because it's advantageous and cohesive. Ya that's right, it is cohesive. I have all areas of music represented if you ignore the ones I didn't mention.
Henry Polter and the Bloglet of Fire- Henry Walther aka Metro Boomin jr aka Hendrick Wamar aka Henye Wast
*presses play on Metro Boomin beat*
Now I do not kid, there was this kid named Henry Polter
His spells were so fire they were resistant to water
He grew up on the bad side of 4 Privet Drive
He wasn't supposed to make it past the age of 5
But it was not him but Voldemort that nearly died...
Then one day he started doing magic
But it was a lot better than a card trick
He spelled the teachers and made them sick
He beat up Donald Trump I aint talking Mc
He stole from stores ya he licked
He stole Marino's ID, called himself Rick
Then he went to school
His teachers were fools
Given kids blog posts thinkin they'd follow the rules
Polter started writing bars instead of words
Hoping that his voice would be heard
He was no sheep, he stood out from the herd
If Henry Polter could be one hero
He'd probably choose Taxi Driver, call him De Niro
Blog is 207 words can't give me a 0
If Polter could live one life, his choice two places higher than third
Would be to learn to live like Henry Walther
*drops wand*

Its a little short, but you get the idea. add songs as you want, as long as its good old rock and roll.

Assingment #23 - Daniel Kolpek
1. The Best is Yet to Come - Frank Sinatra
This is a nice jazz song that reminds you that all the waiting is hopefully worth it. Also Sinatra's voice and the rhythm are soothing if you are bored of waiting or getting anxious.
2. Waiting On the World to Change - John Mayer
This song reminds you that you are waiting for a change, and most likely a positive one. Just have to stay optimistic even though waiting is really boring.
3. Keep Your Head Up - Andy Grammer
This song motivates you to keep waiting and remember that the future is bright. It's upbeat and gives a nice feel.
4. Lord Willin' - Logic
This song has a nice beat and Logic kills it as he usually does with his raps. He reminds you to hold on and continue waiting.
5. Now & Forever - Drake
By this point, you are probably tired of waiting so if you are completely done, then this song fits well. It expresses the feeling of leaving because you can't take it anymore.

1. I'm So Sorry - Imagine Dragons
I would have to pick this song as the title is somewhat ironic. I would play this song when lobbing artillery shells at enemy players on the other side of the map. The enemies get really angry and complain, and I laugh because of the irony.
2. America - Deuce
Because who doesn't like a bit of nationalism? Especially when shooting at communist tanks.
3. Ready Aim Fire - Imagine Dragons
Again the title of the song just goes with driving a tank around and destroying other tanks.
4. Gabriel Iglesias comedy
Because who doesn't like a good laugh?
5. Robin Williams comedy
Again, because who doesn't appreciate the random jokes from the man who played Teddy Roosevelt?
That moment when your BFF is a purple poodle - Jodi Kirkner
CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG.
There's absolutely no reason not to want to be Clifford. None. He has cool friends, a great owner, and he lives on, like, some cool island. He looks so cuddly and sweet too, everyone loves him! Plus, he has a giant dog house. It's like a dog mansion. His best friend is a purple poodle, and his collar is all the rage in doggy fashion. He's got very few responsibilities, and as a cartoon, can dry off after getting wet in like 10 seconds. Also, he's a giant red dog. You could never be cooler than Clifford.
Trans-Pacific Tetris- Jodi Kirkner
Or rather, in the world, one unfortunate person is on one of those cursed trans-pacific flights that seem never to end. They've probably already accidentally switched their in-seat viewing screen system to Russian and upon asking the native speaker to their left for assistance operating it, have gotten stuck watching the Lego Movie on repeat for 7 hours straight. In Cantonese. As they bore of it in the middle of their 3rd time through and start to drift off, the next musical number starts, jolting them back awake. Back into the hell of the economy-class cabin. After deciding they'll never fall asleep sitting upright in this manner, they pull down their tray table and try laying their head down on it. Twenty minutes later, still awake. The toddler in the seat behind them is awake now. He seems to be about as displeased with his mother as the flight attendant is with the man who threw up in Row H. And all of the passengers around him, I suppose. Giving up on rest, they push random buttons on their remote until, finally, the system freezes up and resets. Upon rebooting the system, they open the game screen and fall into a tetris-filled daze, thoughts of the earth forgotten in lieu of red and blue L-shaped tetronimos.

this was too hard - Cas Young
After lots of thinking, I decided I needed to include songs that I listen to a lot, songs that mean something to me, and because I am a sap, I present to you the long agonized over: Songs to Fall in Love To (Spotify link is here.)
1. Reverie- Ludovico Einaudi
We begin with an instrumental, of course. The first time I heard this song, I was in dance class imagining seasoned dancers on stage in Poland. The second time I heard this song, I was alone in my room and couldn't help but think it sounded like two people falling in love. It starts light and almost dreamy, the introduction, and then it builds like two people building a relationship, it gets fuller, it starts to embody intimacy.
2. End of a Day- Kim Jonghyun
I originally wanted to put this song at the end of this playlist- it is a song about the end of the day, so logically it would be the end of the playlist, but I decided it needed to be after "Reverie" as a transition song because of the main instrument being the piano. This song, if you take the time to search for translations, is about spending time with someone you love at the end of the day. How it's a warm blanket, a hand on the shoulder, it's reassuring and comforting in every way. Jonghyun is able to convey his meaning even without me knowing what it's about, and that was one of the initial draws of the song for me.
3. My Dear- Jeff Bernat
I first heard this song as an outro to a video. The videographer pointed the camera at the sky and, because it was a crappy DSLR, talked about what the stars looked like because the camera could only capture the brightest one. I almost started crying and bought the song immediately. I always think about looking up at the stars when I hear it, or slow dancing on the patio. It's just the right tempo. I also like to think it's a continuation of "End of a Day" because Bernat also talks about how the thought of the person he loves always pulls him through. It's just cute and wonderful and I've wanted to slow dance to this song forever.
4. Moon River- Frank Sinatra
After a relationship matures, it turns into a companionship. The best example I have is my parents. They're still young, they just turned 40, but they have three kids and have made it through long days, and some nights, I find them slow dancing to the Rat Pack station on DirecTV. So, because of them, I always associate Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, all of the like with romance. I grew up with it. I went through a jazz binge last month and listened to nothing but Sinatra and Billie Holiday and on a late night car ride I found Moon River and it felt like I was in an old movie being serenaded.
5. Scenes from an Italian Restaurant- Billy Joel
In our house, Billy Joel is the gospel. I swear by him, my parents swear by him, when I was a kid I'd beg my dad to sing "Lullabye" for me. This is one of my mom's personal favourites, so of course it's one of mine, too. It's the perfect dancing, driving, and rocking out song, so I had to put it at the end. It talks about Brenda and Eddie (I always thought he said Bender and Eddie...) who were young lovers and had a falling out after they got married. However, rather than divorce, they picked up the pieces and even though they were never the same people they were in high school, they were still happy. But despite the story about Brenda and Eddie, I love the intro and outro the most because it's such a familiar and welcome melody. A bottle of red, a bottle of white...

Goosebumps: The perfect remedy for emotional numbness Hye Jee Kim
I'm On My Way- Phil Collins: So this song is from the movie Brother Bear. And if you've seen Brother Bear, you know well that this movie will make you feel all of the emotions. Every. Single. One. This song, with it's upbeat tempo and optimistic lyrics, will make you feel undeniably happy. Since I've seen Brother Bear, it also makes me undeniably sad. And the bridge gives me goosebumps. Yay.
Helpless-Hamilton: Wow. I'm into Hamilton. I'm so unique. Anyway this song falls right into the happy line, keeping up with the tone Phil has so nicely set for us. Upbeat song, happy lyrics about Eliza Schuyler and Alexander Hamilton falling in love. But, like the previous song, sadness comes with context, because you know that (Spoiler but not really because it's literal history) Hamilton is going to cheat on her, which will break her heart. And vocal talents give me goosebumps. Yay.
Stay Alive (Reprise)- Hamilton: Suprise, another Hamilton song. this song chronologically comes after (not directly after but still) Helpless, so it makes sense to put it here. Also, now that I've proven to myself I can be happy, I will plunge into dispair to prove that my cynicism hasn't completely dried up my tear ducts. In this song, (spoiler) Philip dies, leaving Alexander and Eliza to be grieve. All three deliver such compact emotion in their voices, you can't help but sob while clutching a pillow. I don't recommend you listen to it in public. And the line "Alexander, did you know?" gives me goosebumps. Yay,
All I Ask of You- Ramin Karimloo: So this is a song from The Phantom of the Opera. But it matters which Phantom you listen to. You must listen to Ramin Karimloo's version. The rest are perfectly fine, very good singers. But only with Ramin Karimloo will you get the emotional rawness that you need to pity and cry over a murdering composer. And his voice gives me goosebumps. Yay.
American Pie- Don Mclean: This seems like an abrupt transition, but to me it makes perfect sense. Both are associated with memories from the summer of seventh/eighth grade. Anyway, although I deplore Don Mclean for being charged with domestic violence, I love this song. It's just too d*mn beautiful/enigmatic. I've never quite understood the song, but I know all the lyrics, and it comes with hard core Duke TIP nostalgia. After making myself sadder than a skunk who finds out he smells like flowers which make all of the other skunks hate him, I think I deserve to go back to happy. And the chorus never fails to give me goosebumps. Yay.
