Thank You CVT playlist Clara 23

Music is a very small thing with inconsequential effects. It is used at parties and funerals, in the car with friends and alone in bed, waiting for good news or waiting for bad; Music is a distracter and a focuser, it is both the main event and the background to almost everything else. As I sit here writing this blog post in the middle of the Denver Airport alone, I am listening to music. Music is something with a constant present and huge power to determine the mood of any situation. With such influence in life, or at least in mine, the music I listen to holds a place in who I am and so I had to go to someone with knowledge of music in order to direct my life and music taste in the correct decision. For me, this person was CVT, and because of that, I give you the Thank You CVT playlist.

1. Katy Came Breezing by Red Tail Ring
Nothing gives me more pleasure than when both CVT and I love a song, and right here is the most recent example of this. One of the most challenging pieces to making music is creating a song that has both good sound and good meaning, and this accomplishes both with great means. The amount of natural sound in this song, with the violin leading and guitar in the background makes it one of the top ranked songs in my music history. The voices of both singers blend together both which each other and the instruments in a way many artists can not accomplish. Not only does this song sound amazing but the lyrics have a way of impeding themselves in me. As the song plays I feel a sense of connection and want to replay it again and again and because of this, it ranks as number one in songs brought to me by CVT.

2. Dance With the Devil by Immortal Technique
Many people discredit the rap music today and refuse to look past the language used, and although some rap deserves this, this song falsifies that assumption. I can remember the first time CVT played this song for me: We were sitting on the hill by target leading into the mall on a rainy summer day going to pick up my little sister. This 10 minute song tells a story which sends chills up your spine. It draws you in with its lyrics more than the musical side. Once you begin the song, you can not turn it off in a want to here the end of the story of this boy drawn in by gangs and it is told so well that even after knowing the ending, you want to listen again and again. This song shows purpose in the rap and successfully makes music into a form a literature.

3. No Shade in the Shadow of the Cross by Sufjan Stevens.
No Shades in the Shadow of the Cross helps to portray the overarching ability of Sufjan Stevens and the amazement of his music. In the beginning of the year as CVT made me my very own playlist, Clara Smells, and it was here I discovered Sufjan Stevens. HFJHK was the very first song I heard and I was quickly drawn in to his music. Just like Red Tail Ring accomplished the amazing mix of music and lyrics with Katy Came Breezing, Stevens’ accomplishes with all of music. His voice blends with the instruments as he tells story after story. For me, in order for a song to truly be good, it has to leave you with a want to listen again, and again, and again, and Stevens’ does this with all of his music. No Shades in the Shadow of the Cross makes it onto this playlist as the song which pulled me into the music of Sufjan Stevens’ with both its lyrics and its sound.

4. It Was a Sin by the Revivalist
This song qualifies in the credits to Cooper area of my playlist, as he brought it to CVT who then relayed it to me, although it is not her favorite of artists. For me, the Revivalist accomplished multiple tasks with the song. I can both listen to this laying in my bed with my headphones, working on homework, and driving with my music blaring. The lyrics of this song can speak to me in times I am down while the musical side can fit with me at the happiest of times. As this song plays I can immediately focus on the music and away from whatever else is on my mind. This song easily qualifies on the Thank You CVT playlist as I repeatedly pick up my phone to press reply whenever this song comes on.

5. 3rd Planet by Modest Mousek
Although not the very very best Modest Mouse songs, it is one of my favorites. For me, to properly represent Modest Mouse, you must pick the correct songs because, in my opinion, not all of their music classifies as appealing. This song is picked as one of my favorite Modest Mouse hits not only because it was one of my first exposures, but because the music is just the perfect mix between a bit of an electronic style without being to computer made. I believe this song helps to show the voice and style of modest mouse and with that is fits as number 5 on my playlist.

There is no way to truly make the perfect Thank You CVT playlist in a simple 5 songs so attached is the full edition of the Clara Smells playlist (https://open.spotify.com/user/catvantate/playlist/3JTtAM72O5yYHQYCw3PjcD) , full of my favorite songs with advising from the music professional Catherine. However, although it is impossible, these 5 songs help to show the amazement of the music she gives to me and the impact this music is able to have on both emotion and thought and so, with that, thank you CVT.
