#19 Plastics- Jessica Sunnenberg

In middle school I ended up transferring out of the accelerated cluster program to go to EJ Hayes. In 6th grade I was faced with making a whole new group of friends. So I did. Some stuck (s/o emma, hallie, & darby), but most of them didn't. Basically what I did was completely change myself to fit in with these other girls. I would make myself seem less smart to avoid all the questions and what not that came along with my nerdiness.

The summer after my 6th grade year I went back to my favorite place, Camp Broadstone. When I was there I was surrounded by tons of people who were just like me. I was able to be myself and not feel like I had to act dumb just to fit in. When I was there I explained middle school to my GIC leaders and they basically told me that if I had to do that, then those friends weren't worth it. After that summer I started to eliminate the people in my life who I felt like that with, and ended up with just a few really great friends who have lasted me throughout middle school and up until now.

Just when I thought that place couldn't get any better :)
