Assignment 20 Claire Jicha

How to Make a Zombie
I am not a scientist so thankfully i can’t actually reanimate the dead. however I can make you look like you just crawled out from your grave and are ready to chew some heads.
First a supply list:
  • cotton balls, 2 for face, more for a whole body costume
  • liquid latex (comes in little bottles at halloween express)
  • foundation for your complexion (or a little lighter)
  • red food coloring
  • nesquik chocolate milk powder
  • black & white face paint
Now rip the cotton balls into various sized pieces and place them on your face. It doesn’t matter where the hell you put em but secure them a little first with some of the liquid latex. Once the cotton is placed to your satisfaction, cover all of it with a layer of latex; go lightly, you want some of the cotton ball to show through. Pull a bit on some of the pieces to form torn skin, these will be your wounds. The texture of the cotton balls makes it look more rotten or decaying while the latex makes it look like skin.
Wait for the latex to dry, then wait another 10 to 20 min. Then you can start applying foundation, cause chances are the latex will not be in your skin tone unless you are really tan and kinda orange. Then apply small amounts of black paint to the wound areas, you may want to lightly rub off some paint to make sure it doesn’t get too dark. Then lightly apply some white paint on the unwounded skin area, and remember highlights of any kind must be used sparingly.
While that drys, time for blood. Take the chocolate powder and pore a small amount into a cup with some red food coloring. The mixture should be about 60- 40 coloring to powder. This mixture is really neat because it keeps that fresh red look but not too fake bright like paint. Keep in mind, it should move like real blood, it will drip some. It does eventually dry, but if you make it too liquidy then it may run off before it gets the chance to set. Add more powder if it gets too runny, more coloring if it's not dripping enough. Another bonus of this particular mixture is, it's completely edible. Rub some over your teeth and gums, trust me it looks really cool.
When your foundation and face paint dries, paint blood over the wounds. make sure not to cover all your skin with blood, but you are dead so feel free to use a lot. Happy Hunting.
