Clara McKinley 11

Next to me sits an amazing pole, and no, I promise, that is not my attempted way of kindly describing an unbelievably boring human being. Instead it is my description of the home of Mario's friend, Luigi. I have to say I felt like I have known Luigi for longer than just the short time I have sat next to him, yet I only met him about 10 weeks ago, when someone new joined our english class and I had to move seats. In middle school I knew who he was because of Mario Kart, but I never knew I would have the honor of sitting next to him. We don't really talk in class, mainly because of the looks I would get from everyone including you, Mr. Logsdon, if I were to be caught talking to a pole. Luigi doesn't have much color to him, just the grey of a pencil and the wonderful cream color every wall of our school in painted. Despite the blandness in his physical color, I would classify him as a red because, according to a rather sketchy website, it represents action, confidence and courage and I find Luigi deserving of all of these character traits. In five years I hope Luigi has not been destroyed by the janitors and still lives on, but, with fear and sadness, I think in the future, Luigi will be nothing but grey smears on the wash rag of a Janitor. Worse yet, Luigi could be shattered into a million pieces being swept into a dumpster to be taken away with the rest of Henry Clay when they find the time to remodel. Despite the inevitable loss, when Luigi is removed from his home on the pole, I still see him continuing to play in new Mario Games, where his courage and confidence shine through. Ignoring all personality traits, I would classify Luigi as a turtle, purely because outside of his life on the pole, his green hat and outfit make me think of a turtle.
Along with my pole friend Luigi on the right, Lauryn McNair sits to my left, and is a bit more of a real person. She is very nice and I give her lots of credit for attempting both AP Bio and AP Physics in the midst of the already impossible junior year. Coming in to class 13 weeks ago, I knew little more about Lauryn than the fact that indeed, her name was Lauryn. Since then I have learned she is a really good writer and a generally nice person. I take it from the conversation across the room she is very good friends with Alexis and found they both work at Fazolis together.
Overall, I am generally happy to sit next to both Lauryn and Luigi, because Luigi is rather quiet and Lauryn is a genuinely kind person.
