War no more - Jodi Kirkner

I don't care what anyone says or does, you'll never convince me that war is necessary. Now, my saying this doesn't by any means mean I think it is useless or shouldn't have happened in the past. What is past is done, and I know I can't change that. It also doesn't mean that I don't understand why people go to war.

I know, war is efficient. It gets things done. Humans don't like to die, they're afraid of death... And most humans will give significant sacrifices to save another human's life. It's human nature. Do you like my excessive use of human? It's for a reason. Humans have been the dominant species for hundreds of thousands of years, or something like that. We consider ourselves above anamialistic practices.. we wear clothes, we eat with silverware, we educate our youth in an organized, systematic manner. But then, in times of desperation, we resort to worse than animals. We have HIGHLY advanced forms of communication and yet we abandon them for guns and bombs, the most impersonal ways of killing people. To some, war isn't even a sacrifice. It is killing without regret of the loss of life. Even species of animals will fight until near death, but refuse to kill their opponent. If animals can show this type of mercy and compassion, we can as well. We can negotiate and have argument with words or diplomatic relations but wars should never be an option.

My personal suggestion if compromise cannot be reached is a classic duel, revolvers and all, between two political leaders (i.e. the President).

So that's that.
