Thanksgiving for my family has been the same for as long as I can remember. We usually go to my grandparents house for lunch around 1;30-ish, which means I am usually up by 8:30 just to get moving around. At 9:00 my favorite part of the day starts: THE PARADE. I love watching all of the performers and floats/balloons. When it's time to get ready, I go upstairs to do so. Of course, while I'm doing all of this my mom is making some bomb a** casseroles (thx mom). Once we are all ready, casseroles included, we leave for their house. Once we get there they are usually still putting the finishing touches on everything that they made for our meal. Once everything is done, we say grace and then eat. So. Much. Food. And then, once you don't think you can possibly eat anymore, grandma brings out dessert. And of course you don't say no, because well....she won't let you. So then once we are all miserable due to the amount of food consumed, we clean up and then the adults end up talking for a good 4 hours. About what? I have no idea. I usually just fall into a deep food induced coma until it is time for us to go. We then go home and put up the Christmas tree and watch Christmas movies.
Now on to my favorite memories. Let's see. I think the best was the year I ate 18 Hawaiian rolls. Now, if you've ever had those things you can probably understand why. If not, plz don't judge.
I love thanksgiving because I am around the people I love most eating amazing food and just enjoying each other's company. Although this year, my sister was still in Copenhagen for thanksgiving :( but we were able to facetime her and she still had a good day. However, due to my procrastination and writing this super late, there is now only a week until she gets home!!!!!!
Anyways, that is a thanksgiving day in the life of a Sunnenberg!
mmm - rolls
