Assignment 4 Mark Walsh

The dust bowl was one of the most trying times in American history. Hitting during the great depression, the dust bowl crippled the American economy further through the utter destruction of America's blooming agricultural industry, and left many families like this in squalor. The families of the great depression were forced to come together and fight for survival in such a tumultuous time as this. This poor family and families like it coincidentally fostered an artistic revolution, legitimizing photography as an art form, I know i'm getting off on a tangent here, but this is my favorite photograph, and has a style that I try (and often times fail) to emulate.  Artists like Dorothea Lange (the photographer who took this photo) started to become more commonplace, and their works were more and more respected. Without this photo and many photos like this, Photography would not be as widely accepted an art form as it is today.
