Assignment 9 -- Andrew Thompson

I will never truly be an advocate for any type of violence. If there is a way around using some sort of violence, I think that path should be taken. That being said, I do believe that some war is necessary. I think that as long as a war is justified, it is morally right go to war. Obviously, though, even when fighting for a good cause, war probably shouldn't be seen in a positive light. In the end, we are killing people. And these people are, well, people. With neighbors, friends, family. And from their perspective, what they are doing is the right thing. I fully believe that the members of the "bad side" really do think that what they are doing is the right thing, just as much as the "good side" does. So, I suppose looking at it like that, it is probably more of the lesser of two evils than anything. We as Americans get involved in a massive amount of foreign affairs, but it is probably important to keep that in perspective, and to think about how we are really affecting others.
