Hi, I can't think of a better way to open this so... I'm Claire. I've always been really terrible at talking about myself, but if its for a grade, I'll make an effort. Personal goals, I’d like to learn trombone, and practice guitar and bassoon more, and I would also like to not fail my classes. Considering I did nothing this summer (other than summer gym, ugh) I have no meaningful moments other than embarrassing a bunch of guys during said summer gym class. If I could have any superpower I would like the ability to stop time, cause that way I could just take a step back and not have to deal with life and everything else for a little bit and when I got back I wouldn't be behind on anything (*cough* blog posts).
Lots of things geek me out. And I mean a lot. I've always been very into musicals, and particularly this new one called Hamilton. It's a rap / modern music musical about the founding fathers and the American Revolution. I know you're judging me but its fantastic. The guy who wrote it, Lin Manuel Miranda, is a genius. The dude can seriously can freestyle rap like no one's business, and the way he commands his words is gorgeous. He manages to convey so many small details in a single verse, its really incredible; and to fill a two hour plus musical with the densest word concentration of any previous Broadway musical (average words per minute: 144), its just astounding. Now you got me geekin’. Now I'm ranting. And so I leave you with a video of this brilliant man rapping at the white house.(HERE)To to keep in the theme of the founding fathers and the Hamilton musical and all that jazz, here is the website for a brilliant transmedia series I Made America which is about 6 founding fathers who've been time travelled to the modern era.
p.s. - That counts as just one video.
