Assignment 7 Mark Walsh

On October 3, 1990, Germany was reunified after more than forty years of separation between capitalist powers in the west and communist powers in the east. The reunification of Germany signaled a major change in the World, signaling the USSR and communism as a whole's downfall and overall failure. The reunification of Germany also showed that a nation can be healed after such a long and difficult divide. The German people had lived in two mirror opposite worlds, separated by the Berlin wall, and they came back together as if nothing had changed in the forty years that they had been apart. This is even more striking when examining the cultural differences of East and West Germany following World War Two. I mean, it is simply astounding that that would be feasible, and is even more shocking that it went as smoothly as smoothly and as quickly as it did.
