You will never experience a food coma like I did this Thanksgiving I will fight you - Cas Young

My Thanksgiving this year was a little different from years past, but I can't possibly complain. Normally, we'd stay at home and celebrate with my dad's parents and his brother's family, but this year we jumped ship to Columbia, SC to have a "Friendsgiving," as my mom called it.

We hopped in the car around noon on Wednesday and made pretty good time, arriving at the Brown's house around 5 or 6:30. I was especially excited about my room- it had a staircase that went directly down to the kitchen. I think you can guess which two rooms I never left the whole 4 days.

Thanksgiving was in full swing by the time I woke up at 7:30 AM because I can't sleep in, there were strangers in the backyard grilling something and to this day I have no idea what it was. There were also strangers in the kitchen, one of them with a thick European accent I couldn't identify named Felix, who I later found out was from Sweden. He taught us card games and he let me hold his baby which was really ridiculous because I very easily could have dropped her and you should never put a human life in my hands.

There was so much food on the island (both before, during, and after the actual meal), that I couldn't go back for seconds for the first time in my sixteen years of Thanksgivings. Immediately after the meal I went upstairs and took a nap. By taking a nap I mean I took my jeans off and laid in bed trying to will my food to digest faster so I wouldn't feel so absolutely stuffed.

The next day, we watched White Christmas at Mindy's house and did peel-off facials and did our nails because we're all spoiled little girls. I absolutely sobbed, too. Cried like a baby. We'll follow the old man wherever he wants to go... Man it's just a tear jerker, we were all crying and Mindy's kids were looking at us like we were crazy but we were too emotional over Bing Crosby to care.

But as much as I love Thanksgiving, Christmas is coming. Well, it's December 6th and I just did Christmas shopping and our tree is up so- so long Thanksgiving, let's welcome the holidays! As a good friend of mine once said, "Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol?"
