I don't watch cable TV much anymore, I tend to netflix and chill (without the chill) more often than not. Its more convenient for me with the ability to choose what to watch ( not just flipping through channels until I find something I at least don’t hate) and non- stop binge on a show. And no commercial breaks, thank god. While i don't hate traditional tv, i find it inconvenient and i think it opens up too many possibilities for capitalist propaganda; But i am fond of the film medium, and the widespread distribution of this art form is, above all priceless.
Using popular media can promote so many positive messages for the population to pick up on. And yes, Im talking about social justice stuff. Something on television could reach hundreds or thousands more people than most other forms of media. So a show, say promoting LGBT+ positivity or anti racist ideas, could reach out and change people’s perceptions on those issues.
