My thanksgiving is not the typical gathering where the whole family is together. Each and every year I play a tennis tournament over Thanksgiving in Louisville. I stay with one of my tennis friends Drew. I feel like part of his family cause we have had thanksgiving together ever since we were 12.
Because we are playing a tennis tournament we normally can't eat too much which kinda ruins the holiday. The tradition is devouring food in between our matches. If we are blessed we have time for a normal sit down meal but normally we have about an 90 minutes to shower, eat, and be back at the courts.
I can't wait for the time when I will be done playing tournaments on holidays. I feel like holidays are by definition relaxing but with an athletic competition it never is. Stress normally fills the day.
My strangest memory happened when i was playing in the 14s division. We feasted at 2 but i had a match at 4 so it was a quick turnaround. Needless to say I threw up during my match. The strange thing is that I threw up so much cranberry sauce but I don't remember their being cranberry sauce or me eating it. It was the weirdest thing I have ever experienced.
My favorite thanksgiving food is stuffing. You can put so many things in one and it tastes like heaven. Not to mention I only eat stuffing on thanksgiving and christmas which makes it even more special. Sweet potato casserole is also on the come up.
