Assignment 7 -- Andrew Thompson

"On October 8th, 2011, Irish professional darts player Brendan Dolan played the 1st perfect 9 dart game on TV in semi-final against James Wade at PDC World Darts Championship in Dublin."
I saw this and decided to investigate to see why this was listed as a major historical event. I ended up finding this video:

To be honest, I know nothing about darts at all, but I think that is what makes this so great. I have no clue what Mr. Dolan did, but I can only assume it was amazing. For one, that is a surprisingly large amount of people to huddle together and watch darts. Not only that, but these people are getting hype. I would assume that darts would be a pretty relaxed environment, but no, this must be like the Superbowl for the Irish. Then the guy just casually strolls up and starts hurling darts at a board while the crowd is roaring and the commentators are yelling. And after he gets the perfect game he does the actual worst celebration ever. That weird pointing and flexing simultaneously thing just seems sub-optimal when a crowd is that excited for you. This made me laugh a lot harder than it should have, and I thank you for that, Brendan Dolan. You will forever be immortalized as my favorite professional darts player. All I can say is "WHAT A MOMENT. WHAT A STORY."
